Biography

Mary Horstman, BA, RN, MBA, CADDCT, BNAT

Mary graduated from the Nursing Program at Harper College. She earned her BA at Duquesne University and her MBA at the University of Notre Dame. She is certified as a Dementia Practitioner Trainer by the National Council of Dementia Practitioners, and had been working with and for Alzheimer’s patients for 20 years. While attending Nursing school, Mary realized her heart was with geriatric patients. She began her nursing career at Alexian Brothers Mental Health Hospital as a Geriatric Psych nurse. Later, she served as Nurse Manager at a Home Care Agency, where she developed caregiver training for Alzheimer’s caregivers and clients. For 10 years, she has been an instructor at Harper College, in the Certified Nursing Assistant Program. In October of 2021, Mary was also recognized as a “Positive Approach to Care” Certified Independent Trainer, by Teepa Snow.  She is very proud of this honor.
